Instructions for oral self-examination
It’s really easy!
With the help of some FA patients from several countries, we created a great guide for your Oral self-examination (OSE). All the participants concluded that it was very easy to do an OSE. So don’t worry, you’ll get faster every time you do it, and will be a pro very soon 😊
Something very important upfront
The Mouth Self-Examination (MSE) is NOT meant to replace the dentist. Some might think they should now be on the lookout for mouth cancer – but let’s be honest, if that were the case, something would have gone wrong with medical care… and that’s not our goal.
However, with MSI, you can greatly assist the doctor and simply have much more and much earlier control over managing the increased cancer risk in FA.
First and one of its kind-
the COLOR CODE
We have developed a unique COLOR CODE that helps you to perform a systematic oral self-examination very easily. Only follow the colored regions „red – yellow – blue – green“ and you won´t forget important regions. This color code is also used in the app for documenting the changes you may have found in your mouth.
Doing it wrong
„There are only two things you can do wrong:
Quit or don’t start at all!“

2. Draw & describe the spot (if seen) on the mouth map 📝
3. and take a picture of it 📷
Our Tip!
